Stress Baking Series: Sugar Cookies Recipe

The past few weeks have been extra busy with postponed weddings. I have so much admiration for the professionalism of my wedding colleagues and the compassion and understanding of my clients. These adorable dog sugar cookies were for the welcome party at Morgan and Rhett’s ocean-front wedding scheduled for last Saturday. My dear friends at Todd Events smoothly transitioned their wedding to a Fall date and did so swiftly and kindly. Morgan and Rhett, along with my other couples, have embraced their wedding 2.0 with gratitude and joy. I am forever grateful as well. And I promise these are going to be the best sugar cookies their guests have ever tasted. What could be sweeter than sugar and love?

These cookies have become a staple for welcome bags and parties. I have searched long and hard for the perfect dough that was perfectly sweet and held shape and structure. This sugar cookie recipe was a Pinterest find and comes from Katrina’s Kitchen blog.  These are indeed the perfect sugar cookie. The dough is ready to use right after they are made, no waiting 3 hours or overnight for the dough to chill. They roll out and bake like a dream.  And did I mention they are delicious? Thank you Katrina for sharing your recipe!

Notes

A heavy duty mixer is needed for this dough.

Be sure to have all ingredients at room temp.

Don’t be afraid to flour your works surface.  The extra flour won’t hurt the dough.

This make a delicious cookie that holds up well to decorating with royal icing.

These cookies can be made ahead of time and frozen.
