Baking Secrets: Cutting Perfect Squares in Cakes, Bars & Brownies

How many times have you cut into a batch of brownies or lemon bars and ended up with a crumpled corner or broken square? Not to mention running a knife along the bottom of your pan ruins it. Well, this little trick is going to ensure clean cuts, a preserved pan, and a clean pan!

Here is my easy solution to cutting the perfect square. Cover your baking pan in foil. Leave enough foil along the edges to be able to grab it. Once the pan cools, lift the edges of foil straight up. You might have to shimmy your brownies or bar out of the pan. Once they are free, they are easy to slice into perfect squares. Plate them and toss that foil. Voila!
